The Low Temperature Chamber is capable of going to cryogenic temperatures by cooling the cryostat with liquid He. It houses a Besocke 'Beetle' type scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), a quadrupole mass spectrometer for temperature programmed desorption measurements and a hydrogen cracker for atomic hydrogen dosing. The chamber is additionally equipped with an evaporator for thermal deposition of molecules and metals.
The manipulator can be cooled by liquid N2 which allows dosing at low temperatures.
In 2018-2019 an optical system has been added for measuring emitted light in the vicinity of the STM tip.
