The experimental table was disconnected, the most delicate optical elements were removed and it was wrapped in plastic foil. The vacuum system remained intact and the ion getter pumps were running!
The laser table was packaged with most optics in place to minimize work after the move.
Moving the laser table with a size of 1.5m x 4.2m was the biggest logistic challenge. The images trace out its path out of the lab, around the building in back into the new lab!
The experiment is on a smaller table but with the vacuum system it is certainly more delicate. The move worked beautifully, conserving the ultra high vacuum in both cells.
