Instrument status

AMS Instrument (HVE 1MV accelerator) is currently undergoing renovation. We have had a planned service for our machine going on in week 34. Unfortunately, an unexpected incident requires that the acceleration tubes are taken back to factory for renovation.

Our expectation is to be up and running again medio October and by November we plan to have measured the backlog from September and October.

In the meantime, we of course maintain normal production in the laboratory getting samples ready for dating.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

The EA-analyzer is operational and up to speed. EA-IRMS has been outsourced internally within AU.

The Dual-inlet is not working to our satisfaction. We are awaiting further leak tests and technical support.

This will delay our reporting of mortar samples where stable isotope information is essential to interpret the radiocarbon age. We do apologize for any inconvenience.

Turn around time

Current turn around time is 5-6 months for radiocarbon age determination.

We are working hard to improving our turn around time to 3 - 4 months (5 months for bone sample). From our best estimate this can be reached within a year.

Express sample capacity

We have a limited capacity for fast track samples (4-6 week turn around).
