Martine Lützen

I am a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen, interested in complex organic molecules in star-forming regions.

Under the supervision of Jes Jørgensen, my research focuses on characterizing complex organic molecules in star-forming environments. Using observations from The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), I analyze molecular emission spectra and compare them with synthetic spectral models in order to constrain the physical and chemical conditions giving rise to the observations.

During my master’s degree, also supervised by Jes Jørgensen, I used ALMA observations to study methanol toward a few protostellar sources. In my PhD, I am extending this work by investigating a wider range of molecules across a large sample of sources through the ALMA Large Program, Complex Organic Molecules in Protostars with ALMA Spectral Surveys (COMPASS). With this work, I aim to improve our understanding of the chemical processes that lead to molecular complexity during the earliest stages of star and planet formation.
