Giulia Perotti

Giulia Perotti is a group leader at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen.

Her research focuses on how planets form, with particular emphasis on the chemistry of gas and dust in planet-forming disks. Her work relies primarily on JWST observations, which she uses to connect the chemical composition of disks to the one of exoplanetary atmospheres. She is a member of the JWST/ERS Ice Age and JWST/MINDS consortia and of several JWST/GO programs. She plans to extend her current work with the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) and its METIS instrument. She is also a member of the science working groups for PRIMA, a proposed far-infrared space observatory currently in Phase B.

Giulia Perotti studied Physical Chemistry at the University of Turin (B.Sc.) and at the University of Copenhagen (M.Sc.). She earned her Ph.D. in Astrophysics and Planetary Science at the Niels Bohr Institute in 2021. She then worked at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, first as a Planet and Star Formation Fellow and later as a Minerva Fast Track junior group leader. She returned to the University of Copenhagen in 2024 as a Carlsberg Reintegration Fellow. She is now a Villum Young Investigator and leads the SEEDS research group at the Niels Bohr Institute.
