Thanja Lamberts has received an NWO Open Competition– XS grant. These grants support bold, high‑risk and innovative research ideas, with the potential to push scientific boundaries and open up new research directions.

Thanja explores why sulfur — a key element in space — seems to be missing where stars form. Using quantum chemistry, she studies how sulfur atoms interact with icy dust grains, change their quantum spin, and move through star‑ and planet‑forming environments.
