New grant - Andrew Cassidy
Andrew Cassidy has been awarded a Villum Experiment Grant by the Villum Foundation.
The InterCat Center Manager, Andrew Cassidy, has receveid 1.9 million DKK from the Villum Foundation, under a Villum Experiment Grant.
Andrew's project - Molecular Motions in Frozen Water - will run for two years, starting 1 Jan 2025. He will use the grant to test whether surface voltages on films of condensed water can be used to measure diffusion at cryo-temperatures. Andrew's research explores the phenomenon of spontaneous polarisation in condensed molecular films and with this grant he will build a new instrument at the ASTRID 2 synchrotron facility that will allow for interrogation of cyro-condensed molecular solids will low energy electrons. The research at IFA will be supported by a neutron scattering experiment at the Swiss Spalation Neutron Source at the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI.
