With deep sadness we share the news that InterCat PI, Prof. Harold Linnartz, Leiden University, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday 31 December 2023. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his wife Helga, their children Anne and Thomas, other family, and friends. Many of us had the privilege to know Harold and work with him for many years. He was an outstanding scientist with inspiring ideas that led the field of laboratory astrochemistry in new innovative directions. Harold was also an engaging and attentive educator to BSc and MSc students, a caring supervisor to his PhDs and postdocs, a kind and supportive mentor, and a true friend. With his passing the field of astrochemistry has lost a strong voice and we have lost a valued and respected friend, collaborator and colleague. His passing will have tremendous impact on us all.
