Talk title: The rich chemistry of the interstellar medium and the role of PAHs

Abstract: In this talk I will introduce the different regions of the interstellar medium (ISM) and their chemical compositions, the recycling of material in a galaxy, and the formation of functionalised polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in dense regions of the ISM. I will conclude with the experimental results of the interaction of one such oxygen functionalised PAH, 6, 13 -Pentacenequinone, with H atoms.
