Fredagsforedrag
Supernovae studies at IFA
Maximilian Stritzinger
Sted: D1
Tid: Fredag d. 11. april 15.15-16.00 (kaffe, te og kage fra kl. 15.05)
Supernovae are transient objects that are associated with the death of massive stars and white dwarfs. They are the sites of extreme physics, produce the heavy elements in the Universe, drive galaxy evolution, and are used as exquisite cosmological distance indicators. In this talk I will review current aspects of supernova studies being carried out at IFA, and how we are improving our understanding of their progenitors, and sharpening their use as distance indicators through detailed observations being carried out by the Carnegie Supernova Project.
