Are we alone in the universe?

Yesterday, Liv Hornekær gave a talk at Offentlige foredrag i Naturvidenskab (
Public lecture in Natural Science) under the shared theme “Kan vi finde liv udenfor jorden?” (Can we find life beyond Earth?) together with Prof. Kai Finster from the Department of Biology at Aarhus University.

The largest auditorium in Søauditorierne at Aarhus University was packed — and the event was live-streamed to hundreds of locations across Denmark and abroad.

In her talk, Liv explored what life is made up of, and how we have already shown that some of the molecular building blocks of life can form in interstellar dust- and molecular clouds under extremely low temperatures and pressures.

At the end of the talks, audience from all locations took the opportunity to ask many questions, exploring even further into what we know, and what we want to find out.

Participants expressed how the presentation helped connect the dots between what they already knew and what science has recently discovered.

An inspiring evening that brought science, curiosity, and the cosmos a little closer together.
