Title: Magnetic Levitating Trains
Achieving a fast mode of transportation has rattled humanity for centuries. A great and environmentally friendly contender for this are magnetic levitating trains, capable of achieving astounding speeds of over 600 km/h, whilst transporting goods and/or passengers with next to no turbulence.
This colloquium will shed light on the ingenuity and physics behind the already achievable yet still futuristic concept of magnetic levitating trains, which are currently in use in multiple places around the world. This colloquium will debate biggest challenges with regard to stable levitating magnets along all spatial and rotational axes, and obtaining forward propulsion for a levitating train, featuring work calculations to illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of maglev trains from an environmental perspective.
