Aarhus University is launching its first satellite called Delphini-1. It will be launched in 2018 in a collaboration between the Department of Geoscience, the Department of Engineering and the Department of Physics and Astronomy and with help from GomSpace A/S and ESA.

Delphini-1 is the first satellite of the AUSAT Programme, which aims to optimise the use of space and space technology in research and education at Aarhus University. The AUSAT Programme is a series of so-called CubeSats. CubeSats are a kind of nano satellites formed as a cube, which measures no more than 10x10x10 cm^3.

In the colloquium I will explain space mission design and analysis in general, but with emphasis on the concept behind Delphini-1, including its components, its development, i.e, assembly and integration, and what type of science that can be done with it.
