It is believed that most stars are born in stellar clusters, which dissolve over time so that the members become part of the disc and halo population of the Galaxy. In this talk I will explore how the primordial binary fraction affects the velocity distribution of escapers from stellar clusters and their escape mechanisms, the impact of binary systems on the determination of stellar cluster masses. Finally I will discuss about the possibility of reconstruct dissolved stellar clusters in the Milky Way.
