Title: Optical Quantum Information Processing using Rydberg atoms
Abstract:
Recent experiments have shown that the strong interactions between Rydberg atoms affect the properties of optical photons stored in a cold atomic ensemble using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT).
Furthermore, it has been observed that applying a resonant microwave field while the photons are stored gives rise to nontrivial dynamics which impact the properties of the retrieved photons.
In this talk, I will discuss some of these experiments carried out in Durham University, and the implementation of quantum gates using the combination of EIT, strong dipole-dipole interactions, and microwave rotations.
