The European Southern Observatory (ESO) is the leading European organization for astronomical research. It operates several world-class observatories in Chile, including La Silla and Paranal, the latter hosting the iconic Very Large Telescope. In collaboration with international partners, ESO also co-manages the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA).
The ESO Science Outreach Network (ESON) is a global network of scientists and science communicators representing all ESO member states and selected partner countries. ESON members act as a bridge between scientists and the media, serving as local contact points for ESO’s outreach activities. Their responsibilities include communicating ESO’s work in their national language and promoting its initiatives to the public.
The Instrument Centre for Danish Astrophysics serves as the Danish representative of the ESO Science Outreach Network. Ole Knudsen manage ESO’s Danish-language website, produce Danish-language content, and contribute to writing and translating press releases. In addition, he respond to inquiries from the media and the public about ESO’s research and activities.
