LSST Workshop

The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) is expected to become a world leading survey facility around 2020, allowing world leading science data in many areas of astrophysics. Danish astronomers will now have an opportunity to become partners in LSST – allowing unique and direct access to all the LSST data when it becomes available in the next decade.

The Danish Instrument Centre for Astrophysics, IDA, will act as the host for astronomers who wish to become partners in the LSST. The detailed funding model is yet to be determined and IDA is prepared to fund some of the LSST activities. It is likely that we will also require funding from the participating researchers.

The schedule for expressing our interest in becoming a member of LSST is very short. Therefore IDA is hosting a workshop dedicated to the LSST on 16 September, 2015. At the workshop we will discuss the scientific use of LSST in a Danish context as well as debate the possibilities of funding:

Time:             Wednesday, 16 September 2015, 10:30-18:00.

Place:            Auditorium A, The Niels Bohr Institute, Blegdamsvej 17, 2100 Copenhagen.
