DIRAC – A Danish CERN Lighthouse Initiative

To support our overall aim of strengthening Denmark’s engagement with CERN, DIRAC is built around four main objectives:

Collaboration

DIRAC strengthens the Danish CERN community by bringing together universities, GTS institutes, and industry partners through joint projects and funding applications, shared PhD programmes, and annual national meetings.

Innovation

DIRAC reinforces the link between CERN, Danish knowledge institutions, and industry, also through the BigScience.dk network and joint applications to innovation funding schemes. By connecting research environments with industry, DIRAC aims to increase the impact of Denmark’s CERN membership on the development of high-tech companies and technological solutions.

Education

DIRAC works to secure the next generation of CERN researchers through new PhD projects and joint courses across participating universities. This supports a necessary generational succession and strengthens long-term research capacity in Denmark.

International Positioning

DIRAC enhances knowledge exchange between CERN and Danish research environments and helps position Denmark to play a leading role in future, high-visibility international projects such as the Future Circular Collider (FCC).
