The automated SONG telescope in Tenerife does not require on-site staff to conduct the observations of stars, yet the Corona virus has forced the leaders of the SONG project to shut down the observatory for at least two weeks.

On the 4th of March 2020 the new SONG spectrograph arrived at the Mt. Kent Observatory in Queensland, Australia. The spectrograph was build in the basement at IFA and will be used to analyse the light from stars collected through two telescopes at the observatory.

Thomas Tram was recently honoured with a Villum Young Investigator grant of DKK 9.5 mio. from the Villum Foundation for the project “Illuminating the Dark Universe”.

Den 31. januar 2019 blev Aarhus Universitets første satellit Delphini-1 sendt i rummet fra den Internationale Rumstation (ISS). Aarhus Universitet og holdet bag rummissionen kan nu fejre 1 års dagen for satellittens succesfulde start på sin færd i rummet.

Astrophysicist and AIAS fellow Thomas Tauris contributes to our understanding of how dead stars impact gravitational forces. Hereby we are one step closer to understanding the forces of nature. The results have been published in the scientific journal 'Science'.

Once upon at time in a galaxy close by - actually our own Milkyway - a passing dwarf galaxy was caught in and swollowed whole. We still see the traces of this. Paper in Nature13. January 2020.
