Invisibility has an enormous public interest and is well-known from the science fiction and fantasy genres, but also from research. It is possible in more ways to achieve invisibility: A simple way is with cameras and projectors but a more advanced way is to use metamaterials. These metamaterials have a lot of exotic features such as a negative index of refraction. It turns out that metamaterials in all their diversity can be used in many different applications which over all is about manipulating waves. Let me already now spoil your expectation about being able to sneak invisible away from the discussion class, but allow me to expand your horizon of which it is possible to achieve this science fiction dream in real life.
