Søren Ulstrup Apppoined Associate Professor
As of 1 April 2022, Søren Ulstrup is employed as a associate professor in experimental physics at Department of Physics and Astronomy.
His research is about understanding the electronic and optical properties of nuclear-thin materials with a view to developing new quantum components. For this purpose, he uses synchrotron radiation at ASTRID2, where he has established a new beamline to visualise quantum states in materials on micro-and nanometres-length scales.
Søren has been employed at Aarhus University since 2017 as assistant professor. He graduated from the MSc in Engineering of Aalborg University and Technical University of Denmark and gained his PhD degree in experimental physics from Aarhus University in 2014. Throughout his career, he has conducted research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California, USA.
Søren was born in Aalborg and grew up in the Aalborg suburb of Frejlev. He now lives in Højbjerg with his wife Nina, son Axel and dog Cleo and enjoys working on his old house or running in the woods.
Where and when the new associate professor will hold his inaugural lecture, will be announced later.
