Gerhard Ertl Young Investigator Award for Søren Ulstrup

This year's prestigious award for a young researcher's excellent work in surface physics goes to IFA Post-Doc.

The German Society for Physics, DPG every year awards a much sought after international award of 3 000€ to a young researcher (2-6 years after PhD) during the yearly Spring Meeting in Regensburg. Amongst the many applicants 5 are chosen to present their project during the conference, and Søren Ulstrup's lecture titled  "Zooming in on the electronic properties of van der Waals heterostructures" won the award.

Søren's line of research concerns using nanoscale synchrotron radiation for studying layered 2D materials in order to create new electronic properties His work is mentioned in Ingeniøren in 2018. Publishers Elsevier are sponsoring the generous award.
