Coexistence of different types of ripples in wind-driven sand transport
At the Planetary Laboratory at Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University, Jonathan Merrison, Keld Rømer Rasmussen and Jens Jacob Iversen have contributed with experiments to a recently published article in Nature Geoscience (https://communities.springernature.com/posts/coevolving-aerodynamic-and-impact-ripples-on-earth)
This international research collaboration focuses on integrating theoretical and experimental studies of flow dynamics and sediment transport under both atmospheric and low pressure.
The experiments were conducted in the unique AWTS II low-pressure wind tunnel as well as in the terrestrial wind tunnel (https://phys.au.dk/forskning/forskningsomraader/planetology/).
The studies have received support from the EU's "Europlanet Research Infrastructure (grant agreement No 871149)”.
