Profile

Andreas Massling is an internationally recognized expert in atmospheric physics with a strong focus on atmospheric processes in the Arctic and a major on the development and application of experimental techniques. He has been working and living in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and The Netherlands. As a key result of his research activities he obtained outstanding contacts to world-leading scientists in the area of atmospheric aerosol research and was appointed a full professor in 2023.

Research

Andreas Massling is an atmospheric physicist that has been working for more than 25 years in the area of aerosol science. His reaearch focusses on the impacts of aerosol particles on climate as well as on human health. His climate reasearch has been directed to Arctic amplification, a phenomenon showing the Arctic warming in the last decades about three to four times fatster than the rest of the world.

Teaching activities

Course on Effects of pollutants on climate and health in the Arctic at Aarhus University, Nuuk, Greenland (2023); Course in Climate change effects on Nature and Society in the Arctic at the Arctic Research Centre, Aarhus University, Nuuk, Greenland (2022); Lecture in Aerobiology summer school at Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark (2022, 2018); Lecture in Customised Course in Air Pollution Modelling for Chinese Specialists at Aarhus University, Roskilde, Denmark (2017)

Collaborations

GIOS (Greenland Integrated Observing System), ACTRIS (Aerosol, Clouds and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure), IASOA (International Arctic Systems for Observing the Atmosphere), COST (European Science Foundation), ACCENT (European Research Network), BACCI (Nordic Centre of Excellence: Biosphere Atmosphere Cloud Climate Interactions), CRAICC (Nordic Centre of Excellence: CRyosphere-Atmosphere Interactions in a Changing Arctic Climate), AMAP (Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Program).
