Dipolar dark solitons

I will review our earlier work on spontaneously generated dark solitons and than discuss solitons in a dipolar Bose gas. Quasi one dimensional and 3D elongated traps will be considered. I will tell how dipolar dark solutions differ from the solitons in a contact interaction gas. I will mention a role of roton instability as well as the anomalous oscillation frequency of such solitons.
