Student Colloquium, Julius Eskelinen: Ant-Man from physics point of view
Supervisor: Steen Brøndsted Nielsen
Is there a superhero who run in air vents but still throw cars around? Could somebody change their height from centimetres to ten meters or is it just pure sci-fi? This is just the case in Marvel Studious movie Ant-Man, where the transformation is done by the Pym particle. Let’s look at the physics behind this superpower and how it is portrayed in the movie. The focus is finding which quantities are conserved and taking apart the most interesting scenes. Are some physical properties conserved or do all the properties scale in relation to height? Questions range from classical mechanics to quantum phenomena, even discussing human biology.
