SAC Seminar - Kuldeep Verma: Constraining structure of sun-like stars using signatures of the acoustic glitches
Acoustic glitches are regions inside a star where sound speed or its derivatives change abruptly. These regions leave their signature on the stellar oscillation frequencies. Additional information from the glitch analysis together with the usual spectroscopic and seismic observables can constrain the stellar structure better. In this talk, I shall present some results of the glitch analysis of the Kepler seismic legacy sample, and demonstrate that the helium glitch signature can indeed be used to constrain the properties of the helium ionization layers and the helium abundance.
