Rosana Turtos receives Sapere Aude grant
Rosana Turtos from the Department of Physics and Astronomy has received a Sapere Aude: DFF-Research Leader grant of DKK 6,332,403 from the Independent Research Fund Denmark for the project “Dose-i-colors: Solid-state nanodosimetry based on color centers operating at room temperature.”
In the project, Rosana will work on discovering a new way to measure tiny amounts of energy deposited in matter when ionising radiation interacts with atoms or DNA molecules. These energy depositions are central to radiation-induced damage and are important for radiotherapy. The project will investigate the physical mechanisms behind these processes and develop a new technique for directly imaging the fundamental interactions of ionising radiation at the nanoscale under experimental conditions relevant to radiotherapy.
Sapere Aude: DFF-Research Leader is a programme under the Independent Research Fund Denmark that gives early-career researchers the opportunity to develop their research ideas and establish themselves as independent research leaders.
