We are pleased to welcome Anneka Myrup Thiesson as our new Special Consultant in AI and large language models starting January 2026. Anneka has been appointed as part of NAT’s AI LAB initiative, which has been made possible through earmarked funds from the research reserve. She will be responsible for supporting all AI-related needs across the faculty. The faculty has, however, decided that positions associated with AI LAB will be organizationally placed within the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Anneka holds a Master’s degree in Data Science from Aarhus University (2025) and also completed her Bachelor’s degree in the same field. She was part of the second cohort of the program. During her studies, she specialized in the philosophy of AI and machine learning, with her thesis focusing on AI explainability – exploring how we can develop more transparent and meaningful AI systems.

In her new role, Anneka will support researchers and lecturers in developing technologies based on large language models (LLMs). She is particularly focused on ensuring that technological solutions are developed with a clear purpose and practical value, rather than for technology’s sake alone.

"What motivates me most is engaging with people about their specific needs and challenges – and working together to figure out how LLM and RAG technologies can truly make sense in their work and teaching. I look forward to helping ensure that AI use is both technically sound and delivers real value in everyday practice. If you’re curious about how LLM and RAG technologies can be applied in your teaching or research context – or simply want to discuss AI ethics – feel free to reach out or stop by 1520-626."

Welcome Anneka
