Professor Lars Bojer Madsen has received DKK 13,333,000 from the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s NERD programme for the project “Strong-field quantum optics: Light-matter entanglement in a new regime”, which starts in September 2026.
Professor Lars Bojer Madsen has received DKK 13,333,000 from the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s NERD programme for the research project “Strong-field quantum optics: Light-matter entanglement in a new regime.” The project starts in September 2026.
This grant will enable research into how intense laser fields can generate and control entanglement between photons and particles such as electrons. The project will investigate how these hybrid quantum states can be tailored, detected, and used to enhance measurements or carry and process quantum information. By combining advanced theory with large-scale numerical simulations, the research will identify promising routes towards new quantum sensing methods, new forms of quantum-state engineering, and technologies that exploit the complementary properties of light and matter.
Congratulations to Lars Bojer Madsen on the new grant!
