Joint Theoretical Physics Seminar - Fabio Cinti: Solving quantum many-body problems: Path Integral Monte Carlo in continuum space
Speaker: Fabio Cinti, National Institute for Theoretical Physics (NITheP), Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Abstract: With the rapid increase of computational capabilities, the development and advancement of numerical algorithms has become indispensable in theoretical physics. In this seminar talk I will review the path integral Monte Carlo technique for the simulation of interacting Bosons. Combined with the so-called worm algorithm, this is shown to enable exact numerically solutions to a considerable range of interacting boson problems. I will also describe examples related to cold atom experiments, such as the low temperature properties of dipolar gases.
