General Physics Colloquium - Klavs Hansen: 'When time scales disappear in your storage ring'
General Physics Colloquium
Title: When time scales disappear in your storage ring
Speaker: Klavs Hansen, University of Gothenburg / IFA
Abstract:
Storage rings have opened for a wealth of new experiments on molecules, clusters
and atoms. The combination of extremely good vacuum, good detection efficiency
and laser excitation have pushed the edges of feasibility.
One of the effects that was seen soon after the first electrostatic ring, ELISA,
was commisioned here in Aarhus was the disappearance of time scales in
experiments on clusters and molecules.
In the talk I will explain where they went, what they revealed when they left,
and what we understood when they boomeranged back.
