Title: Bose gas in a box

Abstract:

For the past few years my group has been focusing on studying Bose gases produced in homogenous optical-box traps, as opposed to the traditional harmonic ones. For many problems, including those related to critical phenomena, strong interactions and/or non-equilibrium behaviour, this new system offers some distinct advantages and closer connections with many-body theories. I will give an overview of our recent experiments and then focus on our most recent work on the unitary Bose gas, in which the interactions are as strong as theoretically allowed by quantum mechanics.
