CODER Talk: The role of games in citizen science
Marisa Ponti, University of Gothenburg
Abstract:
Citizen science is the practice of involving the general public into the core processes of science; posing research questions, collecting data, analyzing data, and communicating results. In later years games have been a central component of many prominent citizen science projects within a wide range fields such as protein folding, quantum control, and Alzheimer’s research.
This has led to studies of how participants in citizen science projects are able to solve otherwise intractable problems through games.
