New postdoc - Archak Purkayastha
Archak Purkayastha joins the Center for Complex Quantum Systems in May 2022
On 1 May Archak joined CCQ as new post doc. He received his Bachelors degree in Physics from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, in 2011, followed by a Masters Degree in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in 2013. Archak completed his Ph.D at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences, Tata Institute for Fundamental Research (ICTS-TIFR), Bangalore, under the supervision of Prof. Abhishek Dhar. He defended his PhD in September, 2018, and stayed at ICTS-TIFR till December, 2018 as a visiting-fellow. He joined the QuSys team for his post-doctoral research from Feb 1, 2019. Subsequently, he was awarded the Marie-Sklodowska Curie Actions Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF) to carry out research in collaboration with the QuSys group and the group of Prof. Javier Prior at Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT), Spain. He has been an MSCA-IF since May 1, 2020.
His expertise is in microscopic descriptions of transport phenomena, especially in open quantum systems. As an MSCA-IF, he has been carrying out research in developing exact analytical and numerical techniques for exploring thermodynamics of interacting open quantum systems, and applications such as quantum heat engines, refrigerators and sensors.
A warm welcome to Archak!
