Sudip did his Ph.D research at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, India, under the supervision of Dr. Nayana Vaval and Prof. Sourav Pal. The title of his PhD thesis is "Molecular spectroscopic properties in the relativistic coupled cluster framework" and during his research, he studied the parity and time-reversal violating interactions in diatomic molecules.

Now, he is interested to work in the quantum dynamics, more specifically in the multilayer multiconfiguration time-dependent Hartree method to understand various ultrafast processes.
