His research will focus on the coherent manipulation of widely (THz) spaced quantum states of single atomic ions using a femtosecond frequency comb. This will enable unprecedented high resolution spectroscopy of large splitting isotope shifts (such as the D fine-structure splitting of the Ca+ ion) and pave the way for achieving coherent control of the rotational dynamics of single molecular ions. It will open up for a wealth of fundamental investigations and technological achievements ranging from tests of the standard model to qubit logic operations.

He obtained his PhD from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris, France) in November 2016. His work consisted in the development of a trapped atom interferometer for short range forces measurement. He studied the impact of spin self-rephasing and more generally of atom interactions onto the sensitivity and the accuracy of the force sensor.
