Stellar Astrophysics Centre (SAC), Department of Physics and Astronomy
11-24 August 2013
The Summer University Courses will be organized as a SAC Summer School. The Stellar Astrophysics Centre will offer scholarships for students attending one of the three courses (including travel expenses) and SAC will offer free lunch, coffee, fruit, cake etc. during the course (for all students). We will organize additional talks, excursions and a final Summer School dinner on Friday 23 August.
The maximum number of students per course will be around 16 (in total around 48 students for the three courses). The aim is that have half of the students should come from Aarhus University the other half should be international students. We will invite students from the five international SAC nodes to attend the SAC Summer School (and SAC will cover the expenses for those students). We invite PhD students and master students to attend the courses. In case we reach the limit for the number of students we will select the students via a lottery.
Each course will include lectures by external research scientists who will be visiting the Stellar Astrophysics Centre in August 2013.
The three parallel courses which will form the basis for the SAC Summer School are:
- Astrobiology
- The Milky Way Galaxy: Properties, formation, evolution and dynamics
- Observational techniques and tools in Stellar Astrophysics
Each course will include lectures by external research scientists who will be visiting the Stellar Astrophysics Centre in August 2013.
Each course is described in detail in the left side column.
