Recent studies suggest that solar and stellar atmospheric abundances may partly be the result of local processes during the formation and early evolution of the individual stars. Among those processes are dust cleansing of the photo-planetary disks by hydromagnetic or radiative forces or planetary formation, or traces of engulfing of planets. Therefore, these abundance effects may be important signatures of the early history of the solar systems, and may affect work on Galactic evolution.
