Title: Adventures with planetary scattering
Abstract:
The often large eccentricities of giant exoplanets hint at a violent dynamical past: the excitation of their orbits by planet–planet scattering. I will discuss several consequences of this process, such as the destabilisation of smaller planets in the system, and the delivery of planetary or asteroidal material to pollute stellar atmospheres.
