Stagger is a first-rate numerical code designed for radiation-magnetohydrodynamics and computational astrophysical-flow simulations on high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
The focus of the present workshop will be on the scientific applications of the code to three-dimensional simulations of stellar surface convection and granulation and modelling of stellar atmospheres and spectra. In particular, the meeting will provide a forum for the Stagger-code community to discuss code development, explore current and future work in the area of stellar convection, exchange knowledge and expertise, foster new projects and collaborations, and, very importantly, introduce the code to the next generation of scientists.
The format of the workshop will consist of two to three scientific/technical presentations during the morning sessions and devote the afternoons to discussions and hands-on work on the code and actual projects.
The invited participants from five different countries (Denmark, Germany, France, Australia, and the United States) include core developers, primary users of the Stagger code and of Stagger numerical simulations, experts in theoretical and computational stellar modelling, as well as young scientists and students.
