High resolution transmission spectroscopy is one of the main techniques for exoplanet atmosphere characterisation. Planetary absorption can be detected by comparing the stellar line depth in-transit and out-of-transit, for example the Na D doublets. However, the intrinsic stellar line depth varies from the centre to the limb across the stellar disk (which is called the CLV effect). Thus it is necessary to correct the CLV effect for transmission spectroscopy. I will present how theoretically the stellar CLV will affect the exoplanet transmission spectrum. In particular, I will show the actual observed CLV effect in serval exoplanet systems (for example, HD 189733b and HD 209458b).
