AMO Theory

Our group investigates the interactions of particles and their coupling to light. The aim of our research is to develop an understanding of collective effects that emerge from light-matter interactions in the quantum regime and to find viable ways to control such interactions for novel applications, that, for example, utilise few-photon quantum states or enable quantum simulations with atomic systems. A focus of our work lies on the exploration of finite- or long-range interactions. They occur, for example, between highly excited atoms, trapped ions as well polar molecules or atoms, which offers close connections to experimental research lines in the Center.
