Optomechanics

Our group investigates the coupling of electromagnetic radiation with the quantum mechanical modes of nanoscale oscillators. Our research goals range from the observation and exploitation of fundamental effects of quantum mechanical motion (quantum optomechanics) and the investigation of collective effects in oscillator arrays (multimode optomechanics) to the integration of mechanical resonators with atomic systems for sensing and metrology (hybrid optomechanics). In particular the latter aspect offers multiple links within CQOM.
