Supervisor: Frank Grundahl

How much can you learn by just looking at things? Actually, quite a lot if you know how to look.
Spectroscopy is a well-known method for learning a lot about the contents of a sample, and simple imaging can tell a lot about structure, objects, conditions, and much more for large systems.

Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) is an advanced and new imaging method that essentially conducts spectroscopy over an entire frame and as such combines the both spectroscopy and imaging to more than the sum of their parts.

The colluvium will briefly go over the evolution of camera technology and then delve into HSI.
It will focus on the complications that arise from trying to obtain the data in a way that is both detailed and practical, and different solutions and methods for acquiring these extremely informative images.
Finally the colluvium will go into the possible usages and impact of this technology in both practical and research fields.
