<p>Skalmodellen bruges til at beskrive opsplitningen af energiniveauer for
</p>
<p>neutroner og protoner i kerner. Energiniveauerne vil nogle steder
</p>
<p>bundte sig sammen, så der opstår et energigab. Energigabene opstår
</p>
<p>ved nogle bestemte værdier for N og Z, som kaldes de magiske tal.
</p>
<p>Hvor skalmodellen beskriver energiniveauerne vi ser i stabile
</p>
<p>grundstoffer rigtig godt, så ser det anderledes ud, når vi bevæger os
</p>
<p>væk fra disse. Energiniveauerne bytter plads, så skalstrukturen
</p>
<p>ændres, og de magiske tal flytter sig til nye værdier. Vi ser på
</p>
<p>eksempler fra de lette kerner.</p>
