Title: Quantum heat transport in superconducting circuits

Abstract:

In superconducting quantum circuits energy is transferred primarily by emission and absorption of microwave photons. A particular source of such photons is a heat bath that can be realized as an on-chip resistor in a circuit. I will present our recent work on thermodynamics of mesoscopic electronic circuits, combining quantum Josephson junctions, resonators (harmonic oscillators) and heat baths. I introduce superconducting qubits as a working substance for experiments on quantum heat transport, refrigerators and heat engines [1-3], and present our efforts towards measuring quantum trajectories by a calorimetric method [4].
