New visiting professor - Eddie Baron
Eddie Baron has joined the group of Max Stritzinger on 17th September, 2018 where he is on a 3 month sabbatical funded by AUFF.
Eddie is a numerical astrophysicist working in the
fields of supernova, stellar physics, radiative transfer, and high performance
computing. He is George Lynn Cross Research Professor at the
University of Oklahoma, where he has been on the faculty since 1990.
During his visit, Eddie will work on modeling the odd, but not rare subclass of Type Ia
supernovae known as SNe Iax, as well as in junction with IfA PhD student Simon Holmbo, on a PCA analysis of an extended sample of stripped envelope
supernovae spectra obtained by the Carnegie Supernova Project.
Eddie also has a number of ongoing projects and is delighted to interact
with members of IfA.
Eddie is to be found in office 1520-522
