The Danish Astrophysics Research School (DARS) is a national research school. The research school will improve coordination and help to achieve a significant boost in the training of the next generation of Danish astrophysicists. DARS has been granted financial support by the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation (Forsknings- og Innovationsstyrelsen) for the period 2006-2011. The schools official starting date was 1st of September 2006. During its time of operation all astronomy and astrophysics PhD students in Denmark come under the DARS "umbrella".

The research school unites the key astrophysics institutions in Denmark: The Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University, the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, and the Nordic Optical Telescope. The research groups have a high scientific reputation and have produced some of the most cited work world-wide in the past decade. Agreement on formal collaboration with 10 international institutions and research schools has already been secured. DARS will host around 30 PhD students, an appropriate volume to set up a sufficiently large course program for training PhD candidates at the highest international level, and to achieve significant synergy effects between the participating institutions.
