New postdoc: Sanjoy Kr. Mahatha

Sanjoy Kr. Mahatha joined the group of Philip Hofmann and Jill Miwa as a postdoctoral researcher on 1 September 2016

Sanjoy Kr. Mahatha joined the group of Philip Hofmann and Jill Miwa as a postdoctoral researcher on 1 September 2016. He will focus his research on the electronic structure of new paradigm two-dimensional materials, topological insulators and Weyl semimetals using the AU-SGM3 beamline of ASTRID2 synchrotron facility.

He was previously a post doctoral researcher in ISM-CNR, Trieste under the supervision Carlo Carbone where he was mainly associated in VUV-Photoemission beamline of Elettra synchrotron, Trieste in Italy. His previous field of research was to understanding the electronic structure of silicene and multilayer Si film which were being under debate. He earned his PhD from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata in the year 2013 where he worked on the electronic structure of thin metal films and transition metal dichalcogenides using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy.
